Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how DetectAI collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our AI-powered content analysis app.

Text, documents, and images you submit for AI analysis to detect AI-generated content, authenticity, and provenance. This content is processed locally and sent only to AI services for analysis.

📱 Local App Data

Analysis results, user preferences, and app settings stored locally on your device. Personal data is only transmitted when you upload content and request analysis.

💳 Subscription Data

Subscription status and purchase information managed through Apple's App Store. This data is stored locally and used only to determine feature access.

📊 Analytics Data

Anonymous usage analytics, crash reports, and performance metrics collected through Firebase services to improve app functionality. This data is anonymized and cannot identify individual users.

🔒 Anonymous Usage Tracking

DetectAI uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to assign you a unique, anonymous identifier. This identifier and your free analysis usage counts (e.g., 3 of 10 text analyses used) are stored securely in Firebase to prevent abuse of the free tier. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally and persists across app reinstalls.

2. How We Use Your Information

DetectAI uses your information exclusively for local AI analysis services:

AI Analysis: Send your content to AI services for analysis to detect AI-generated content, analyze authenticity, and verify provenance
Local Processing: Store analysis results locally on your device for your review and reference
Results Display: Present detailed analysis reports, confidence scores, and reasoning for AI detection results

Local Storage: All analysis results and app data are stored locally on your device
Subscription Access: Use subscription status to determine which analysis features are available
User Preferences: Store your app settings and preferences locally

Data Collection & Privacy

Usage Tracking: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to assign you an anonymous identifier and track your free analysis usage (e.g., 3 of 10 free text analyses used) to prevent abuse of the free tier. This data is stored in Firebase Firestore and persists across app reinstalls (Legal Basis: Legitimate Interest)
Analytics: We collect anonymous usage analytics and performance metrics through Firebase Analytics to improve app functionality (Legal Basis: Legitimate Interest)
Crash Reporting: We collect crash reports and error logs through Firebase Crashlytics to improve app stability (Legal Basis: Legitimate Interest)
AI Processing: Content is sent to AI services for analysis when you request it (Legal Basis: Contract Performance)
Local Analytics: Personal analytics dashboards are generated from data stored locally on your device
Anonymous Identifiers: No email, name, or personal information is collected. Only an anonymous identifier is used for free tier tracking

Google (Gemini API): Processes text, document, and image content for AI detection analysis. Data is not retained after processing.

Optimized Processing: All content types are processed using Google's Gemini API for optimal accuracy and performance.

Data Processing: Your content is sent to these services only for the purpose of AI analysis and is immediately deleted after processing.

📱 App Store

Subscription Management: Subscription status and billing information are managed through Apple's secure payment system.

App Store Server Notifications: Real-time subscription status updates via Apple's webhook system.

📊 Analytics & Monitoring

Firebase Authentication: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to generate a unique, anonymous identifier for your device. This identifier is used solely to track your free analysis usage and cannot identify you personally.

Firebase Firestore: We store your anonymous user ID and free analysis usage counts (e.g., 3 of 10 text analyses used) in Firebase Firestore to prevent abuse of the free tier. This data persists across app reinstalls.

Firebase Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to anonymously track app usage patterns, feature adoption, and performance metrics to improve the app experience.

Firebase Crashlytics: We use Firebase Crashlytics to anonymously monitor app stability, identify crashes, and improve app reliability.

Local Analytics: We provide users with personal analytics dashboards showing their analysis history, usage patterns, and insights - all stored locally on your device.

No Personal Data Storage: No personal information, email addresses, names, or account credentials are collected or stored.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

DetectAI retains your information locally on your device:

Anonymous User ID: Stored in Firebase Firestore indefinitely or until you factory reset your device. Used solely to track free tier usage across app reinstalls
Free Usage Counts: Stored in Firebase Firestore indefinitely to prevent free tier abuse. Contains only usage counts (e.g., "3 of 10 text analyses used") tied to your anonymous ID
Analysis Results: Stored locally on your device for 1 year for your review and reference
Thumbnails: Stored locally on your device for 30 days
App Settings: User preferences and settings stored locally until you delete the app
Subscription Status: Subscription information stored locally for feature access
Analytics Data: Anonymous usage data retained for 25 months (Firebase default)
Crash Reports: Anonymous crash data retained for 90 days
AI Processing: Content sent to AI services is not retained after processing

Your Control

Complete Control: You have complete control over all data stored locally on your device
App Deletion: Delete the app to remove all locally stored data from your device
Factory Reset: Performing a device factory reset will remove your anonymous user ID and allow you to start fresh with a new anonymous identifier
Local Management: Manage locally stored data through your device's storage settings
Anonymous Data: Your anonymous user ID and usage counts stored in Firebase cannot be used to identify you personally and contain no personal information

6. Your Privacy Rights

You have complete control over your personal information:

8. International Data Transfers

All data is stored locally on your device. When you request analysis, your content may be processed in the United States and other countries where AI services operate:

Google Gemini API: Processes content globally, data is not retained after processing
Firebase Services: All Firebase data (analytics, crashes) is anonymous and processed in the United States
Local Storage: All analysis results and user data remain stored locally on your device
Encrypted Transmission: Content sent to AI services is encrypted in transit

9. Children's Privacy

DetectAI is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information immediately.

Age Verification: By using DetectAI, you represent that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not use our app.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

Right to Know: Request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect
Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
